Loving Life

Micah is home and loving life!! The diagnosies ...a common bug in the stomach which he is on round the clock antibiotics for (we, or rather Luke, is sure getting practice for our newborn!). We were able to check into the Ronald McDonald house this week and get a better nights sleep. We then got back to the hospital before Micah woke up which was really helpful. Braet also got to stay with us for a night and really enjoyed that. He wanted to, "pretend that this is our new house forever!" It must have been the playrooms and playground!!
Micah is doing wonderful!!! This is the happiest we have seen him since probably September. You can tell he is feeling so much better and even though his legs are very weak, his smile and joyful heart are evident! He even gave some of his nurses and docs a grin to our amazement!! We are so enjoying seeing the old Micah Man!! He is eating like a mad man and his diet consits mostly of Perdue chicken nuggets (which he requests for breakfast, lunch, dinner & snack), strawberries, oranges, noodles and chips. We are truly enjoying our family!!!
Thanks again for all your continued prayers. My heart has been troubled as I have thought about this 3rd round of chemo and what it would potentially hold for Micah. My mom watched Little Man this morning so that Luke and I could go to church and after service we were able to pray with one of our Pastors, Joshua Harris~ how encouraging this was to our hearts. Being reminded of God's nearness, strength and grace for the moment. Even though we know these next weeks may hold trying times, we are certain as always, our Lord is ever present and near to us. Your prayers and encouragement mean more than you know!!

All our Love,
Luke & Kriscinda, Braeton, Micah and lil sis

Specific Prayer & Treatment Plan
*The plan is to start his 3rd round of chemo this coming Mon (March 27) if his counts are high enough~ Prayer for strength for Micah and minimal side effects
*Even though the tumor mass that they could not remove safely is gone, there is blood left over from the surgery which doesn't allow the doc to see if there is any tumor in that area and thus, they are thinking a second surgery would be good to clean up that blood and remove any tumor if present before we move onto the higher doses of chemo to make the treatment as effective as possible. S, Micah is scheduled to have an MRI following this dose of chemo and we would appreciate your prayers for the blood to clear and any remaining tumor (if any) so they can get a good picture and determine if a second surgery would be good or if the tumor is gone. Thanks so much for your faithful prayers!!!

Back to Children's

Hey All,

This morning Micah woke up with a fever, we prayed, packed and left for Children's ER. By the time we got to the hospital, the fever was gone! Thank the Lord, Micah got to come back home!! So they did the standard tests ( we will get the results in 2-3 days) gave him an antibiotic and sent us home. We are headed back to clinic tomorrow morning to do another blood test and his next dose of the antibiotic. His white blood counts are low (1050) as well as his platelets. This evening he threw up and Luke replaced his NG tube (Luke is such a Pro!). Micah also had some diarrhea so today was a sick day for "Mikey". But even though he wasn't feeling real well, he was still a happy little guy... smiling, singing Stars Wars with Braet Braet, eating chicken nuggets and hanging out with each of us. Chemo has been postponed for now, we are not sure when they will start his third round (this Wed was the anticipated start date but now we are not sure) but we would so appreciate your continued prayers for this journey. God has been so gracious and faithful to us! Thanks in advance for your prayers. How wonderfully encouraging to know you are being lifted up by so many!
Love to All~ The Davis Clan

Psalm 9:10
And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you

Prayer Requests
- For no infection and that his counts will come up quickly.

MRI Results

Dear Friends~

As you have shared in our sorrows may you now share in our great joy! We have received the results back from the MRI...now is probably a good time to pull out the Kleenex... there is NO residual tumor left in Micah and the swelling has decreased in the covering in of his brain! What can we say...Thanks be to God! We are overwhelmed....

We will talk with Micah's doctor this week and find out more what this means long term. God has prolonged Micah's life and has graciously allowed the medicine to work. We are reminded once again that God is the one sustaining each of us and he is the one sustaining our little Micah Man. He has numbered each of our days and has a purpose greater than we can see or imagine!

Thank you all your for faithful prayers and continued care for our family (The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. James 5:16)... I think Micah is the most prayed for little boy in the entire world!! Thanks!
With much Love and Appreciation~ Luke & Kriscinda, Braet, Micah and lil Sis

Ps 33:20- 22
Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you.

Ps 41:3
The Lord sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness you restore him to health.

Prayer Request:
* Complete healing for lil man and faith for the future...whatever the Lord has in store for each member of this family

No Place Like Home

Our little Man is HOME!!

There's no place like home! There's no place like home!
We arrived home late Thurs. night and after a long 2nd round of chemo and Micah was excited once again to be home! He still has his hair but this round of chemo took it's toll on all of us. Last Thurs he got a fever and hit bottom- his counts were at 0, the vomiting (because of one reason or another) in full swing, the mouth sores started, his eating stopped and we ...well... are hearts were breaking for our son. However the Lord sent comfort in many different forms- visitors, phone calls, prayers with friends and a nurse even stopped in the hall to pray with Micah and I. Praise the Lord that has passed, the mouth sores were not near as bad as last time and nurses were able to give him lots of good meds for his discomfort. As I talked with other moms I realized how blessed we are and how Micah is not experiencing what many other children with the same regimen are.

Here at home we are enjoying Micah's smiles, Breaton, our own bed and this warm weather. Thank the Lord for these beautiful days! We have been able to go for walks and play on the deck which is really nice since Micah can't go to the stores, church or playgrounds. Micah also got a big boy bed (mainly so Momma and Dadda could cuddle with him) and seems to be enjoying it. We were able to celebrate Braet's B-day (a bit early) with our families and that was a wonderful, refreshing time to be together! Luke is becoming a professional nurse and I the pharmacist!

Thank you all again for the meals (how nice it is to come home late from the hospital and have a great dinner!), visits, calls, watching Braet, continued prayers for our family and much, much more! You all have served and cared for us in so many different and wonderful ways! Thanks so much!
Love to All, Luke & Kriscinda, Braet, Micah and lil sis (still with no name!)

Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. Ps 30:5

* 3rd Round of Chemo, scheduled to start on March 16, this is the last dose of Methotrexate
* We should be getting the MRI results back at the beginning of this week

Specific Prayer Requests:
- Continued mercy, strength and grace for Micah as he enters his third round of chemo
- Patience and wisdom! This little man is keeping us on our toes and knees!! He can be very hard to console and wants to eat all the time but will rarely eat anything. They are weaning him off the steroids and this produces major mood swings. We desperately want to help him but at times feel at a loss and just exhausted.

2nd Round of Chemo is Over

Wanted to write and give you a little update on Micah and how things are going this week. Once again thank you for your prayers and encouragement. It has greatly helped us in caring for our son.
Love to All, Luke & Kriscinda, Braet, Micah and lil miss

Here Goes...
Micah has just recently finished his second round of chemo and we were scheduled to go home Wed, however on Thurs morning Micah got a fever (nothing uncommon) and his counts are 0 (meaning he has nothing to fight off infections) so he is on antibiotics but by the afternoon his fever was gone. Thank the Lord! He spent most of the day resting and even asked to get into bed! Luke noticed he had a few mouth sores so the nurses gave us this stuff called Magic Mouth wash that numbs the sore, Luke even tried it out and said that it worked well. They can also give him pain meds if he needs them. GCSF shots started today (that is to help boost his counts and he will receive one a day for 7-10 days). Let me tell you Luke is a pro at giving little man his shots, he does such a great job that even the nurses are impressed!!
I must say a a line about our roomate, sweet little Kevin (2 1/2 with the same type of tumor as Micah except it was on his kidney) what tender little boy, who no matter how sad he is will always stop to sing Sponge Bob Square Pants-they are the best roomates ever! Please say a prayer for him as well.
Our nurses continue to be outstanding and some have become dear friends and great sources of encouragement. How gently and tenderly they take care of our little grouch (well he can be pretty grouchy towards his poor nurses)! He is however getting better and not screaming when a nurse walks in the door! I must say through it all Micah has been a pretty pleasent and over all very easy to care for. He has brought much joy to his Dadda, Momma and the rest of the family. He enjoys walks down the hall, the fish tanks, Wiggles, books, cuddle time and of course watching the "copters" (helicopters) from his window.
His speech has greatly improved and he is talking more now than when he first came into the hospital, he is also doing well with using his left hand and no longer holds it at his side. His left leg is getting stronger and he walks on his own some but still wants the security of your hand. Whew.. I think that is about all =)

*Mon: New Broviac put in (small surgery)- and it works much better than the other one!! Thank the Lord!
*Wed:Standard Kidney Test- No results back yet
*Thurs: Standard Hearing Test- No results back yet and got Fever
*March 9th scheduled for MRI- tentative

But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning;great is your faithfulness.“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,“therefore I will hope in him.” Lam 3:21-24

Prayer Requests:
* That Micah's side effects would continue to be minimal
* Peace for the MRI, that no matter the results are hearts would be steadfast in the Lord and his love for our us and our family
