Family Pictures

Dad's surgery went well and he is home resting. In and out it from the medicine, it's working well and keeping the pain away. He should be up and going in a few days- we'll try and keep him down and resting in the meantime!

I have some great pictures to share with you. A few weeks ago, Janelle Bradshaw blessed us by taking family photos for us! Kathy Charnley took us to the little airport here in Gaithersburg which Micah loves and Janelle shot some fabulous pictures. She brought them over yesterday and of course I started to cry. There are so very dear to me and I am grateful we had the opportunity to take them. Much THANKS Girls, so appreciate it! Hope you enjoy them!

Dad's Knee Surgery- Tomorrow

After reviewing Dad's MRI the docs are certain that he has torn something (I forget exactly what) but they have scheduled surgery for Thursday, March 29. He will have to be on crutches for a few days. We are told the recovery will be only about a week, that would be great for Dad ( we are hoping for a speedy recovery for him). Please pray for him tomorrow, for the docs performing the surgery and that his recovery would indeed be quick. THANKS!

Swallowing Pills!

Micah received the medicine for the trial on Wed after his MRI. What a crazy day that was, all day at Children's and sick kiddos. Dad was taking care of Cianne at home and Braet was with us at the hospital or rather with some of his fav people at Volunteer Services (thanks Girls!) Then I get a call from dad, Cianne has thrown up 6 times and he wants to know where he can find more clothes~ meanwhile I went to check on Braet he started throwing up too! We finally got home at 6 and poor Braet and Cianne are still sick, fever and throwing up. Micah decided to join in the fun at 6 this morning while I was giving Cianne a bath to clean her up! I guess this yuckie virus is moving from brother, to sister to brother to uncle....who's next?! All during the time, Braet has been a champ not complaining but whenever he start to throw up he puts his hand on my arm and say, "Pray, momma," and if I stop before he's finished we asks me to,"Pray," again.
We should receive the MRI results back next Tues or Wed. The first night of pill (not penny) swallowing was horrible, Micah was very upset and I was too! I realize I have been putting more "hope" (hope only belongs in the Lord) in this new drug than I thought and was really upset when it appeared this might not work. Luke prayed for all of us ~We got 3 pills in him and he threw up 2 twice while we were trying to get them down. Last night, first we prayed then told Micah he needed to take his medicine with a bite of ice cream after that he could drink it down with his Pepsi. It worked, thank the Lord! Micah was able to swallow the 2 small pills (about the size of a large Tic-Tac the large one are about the size of a Mike&Ike, he has to take 2 of each). So we would sure appreciate your continued prayers that little man would be able to swallow the pills and that this new medicine would work well. Micah has gained a pound since last his last visit. This is always good, he is now up to 31 lbs!
Mom is doing pretty well, hopefully she doesn't get this virus. She's being going to doc appts and has started back to work (not always a full day yet). It's probably safer for her to be there than here! Dad is at the doc this morning and they are reviewing his MRI of his knee, they think he may have torn a ligament behind his knee that may require surgery. I don't think the recover time is to long but we'll find out later what exactly going on.
All the while our hearts are being shaped and we are seeking to cling tighter to the cross for we are desperate for strength and we have none of our own and we know our faithful Lord is willing and able to give us his. Each day has proven to have great challenges (like 10 loads of laundry =)~ thanks Mom!, what would I do without her. You can't keep her down even though I've tried!) Grace and mercy for each new day! At times I've so wanted to have more than 24 hours in a day and now I am ever so grateful that God does all things well and in His wisdom he chose to give only 24 for each day!
It's Braet B-day weekend here, hopefully he'll feel better soon! Have a great weekend!

Thanks!!
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Eph 3:20-21

Precious lil Ones

Hi! I know it's been a while, so let me fill you in...
Starting with Mom~
The doc had to ground her for a few weeks and she has just started back to work today. She is recovering well but still needing rest. The docs at Shady Grove said they hadn't seen anything like her before (no surprise there- our family takes everything to the extreme =) and they were very surprised that she walked in the ER! As far as surgery goes, her doc said that he would like to wait 8-12 weeks before surgery, to allow the blood clots to continue to dissolve, even though she has the filter in he says, "Nothing is 100%" and would feel more comfortable giving the medicine time to work. At this point he is more concerned about the blood clots than the tumor. He wants to figure out what the pain in her back is from and give her some more time to recover.

At the Davis house... Mom just turned 48, Braet will be 5 and next month it's Micah's B-day!
March Madness here... in less than 2 hours, Mikes swallowed a penny (guess we can tell Dr Rood that he's been practicing for his pill swallowing. Yep I'd say he can do it!), poopied in the bath and went fishing in the toilet! Oh he is our adventurous one! What to do with him but love him and put a tracking device in his orange crocs (they are his favorite shoes)!
Also, a slot has opened up for a trial (a new drug they are studying- that has been known to have success in keeping the tumor at bay for several months)so Micah will have an exam and then an MRI this coming Wed at 2pm. Our dear nurse Susan has called everyday to check on a trial slot for Micah, what a sweety she is! So little man should start the medicine this Wed or Thurs. He continues to enjoy good health which we are so very grateful for. We are truly enjoying him and his cheerful little heart. How our children continue to teach us!

Little Cianne is getting her top teeth, climbing up the stairs and teetering along the furniture. I know I've said it before but I'll say it again, how time does fly~ she's almost a year!!!

Braeton! My big boy! He is very excited about turning five and loves playing with his brother and sister ~ oh yeah and of course all his Star Wars guys.
Each day's a gift and we sure are enjoying our family in the everyday little things... like shooting hoops with Mikes, light saber battles with Braet and Patty Cake with CC!

As always we so appreciate your prayers! And we send our love!

Each Day A Gift

A few Sunday's ago we were blessed with having one of our pastors, Bob Kauflin pray for our family. And part of his prayer and admonition to us was that we might see each day as a gift. And even today in spite of the results of Micah's MRI there have been many gifts... play time with Maw & Paw, Nana coming home, songs, dance, tub time, story time, wrestling with Cam and Brandon, snuggling, Micah helping feed his sister, the boys running around the circle in our home (through the dining room, kitchen and then back to the living room)~ and maybe that's why the news is even harder--- what a wonderful, little family we enjoy! The MRI report states "significant change," little mans tumor continues to grow, it is now about 2x5x3 cm.

With this news the tears began again, I wept as Micah and I sang "Oh the Blood of Jesus" during bath time tonight. Little man has no clue how much his songs help his mommy & daddy's heart. It's hard to know what to say or feel at times. Our hearts our tremendously sad. Yet God is near, comforting, keeping us. We're standing on your prayers, the Lord is holding us lest we would faint for lack of strength.
Micah's on the other hand is a care free, bundle of joy! The only thing that stops him is a break for chocolate milk, nuggets and a poopie diaper (that Mommy insists on changing). My heart wants desperately to know more of his child-like faith.
Thanks, as always for your prayers, your emails and calls of encouragement. We so appreciate it! Please pray that we could see each day as a gift, our hearts would be at peace and that Micah would continue to have good health. Thanks friends!

"The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" Ps 34:18

*No news on the trial, we are were told it should open "within the next week or so".

the thorn

I found this wonderful little poem on a friends blog. She shared this with her readers as it had encouraged her heart. Well it encouraged mine, may it do the same for you..

The Thorn

I stood a mendicant (beggar) of God
before His royal throne
And begged Him for a priceless gift,
which i could call my own.
I took the gift from out His hand,
but as I would depart,
I cried, "But Lord this is a thorn
and it has pierced my heart.'
This is a strange, a hurtful gift
that Thou hast given me."
He said, 'My child, I give good gifts
and give my best to thee.'
I took it home and though at first,
the cruel thorne hurt severe;
As long years passed I learned at last
to love it more and more.
I learned He never gives a thorne
without this added grace...
He takes the thorn to pin aside...
the veil which hides His face.
