Surgery 4 Mom

Hi Friends~

We were all excited about mom coming home today. Preparations were being made for a nice dinner and of course the mad dash cleaning. Then we got the call... the docs looked at the MRI and believe the indeterminable mass to be a tumor, which will require surgery. So they told her she is not going anywhere for a while. This is obviously dishearting to us and surgery has a greater risk with the blood clots so we again covet your prayers. Prayers for peace, skillful doctors and a successful surgery. Thanks so much!

"Oh no you never through the calm and through the storm
Oh no you never let go, never let go of me

I can see a light that is come for the heart that holds on
And there will be an end to this trouble but until that day comes,
Still I will hold on, still I will hold on."

Everlasting God

Mom had a CT scan yesterday which revealed an indeterminable mass (that barely showed up on the scan it is about a 2x3cm) in her kidney, which she had an MRI for today. They don't know if is a sist or tumor. They won't operate because of the blood clots. The docs have not looked at the MRI yet but if it is a tumor mom will be given oral chemo to dissolve the matter.Rather than coming home today, they will be keeping her at least until Tuesday. We again know little and should know more tomorrow. Mom is still weak but has been resting better and is slowly regaining strength. On Sat she had a blood transfusion to bring up her hemoglobin count which was very low at 7 (you should be around 13 or 14) and today she gave herself her first shot of the blood thinner medicine. I'm impressed!

Last night the doctors were sharing with mom the seriousness of the blood clots in her lungs and that more people die from the clots in a year then HIV or heart disease. What a blessing that she is with us. We hadn't a clue just how serious it was. How thankful we are to the Lord for preserving her life.

I am reminded of a song we sang in church today- as we wait, as we are weak- yet the Lord is strong. Our strength, comfort and hope. Thanks for your prayers. How in debt we are to you for all your prayers and encouragements. They mean so much more than you know!

You are the everlasting God
You do not faint, You won't grow weary
You're the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings of eagles

Update on Mom

What a Day... How do we live, how do we trust and hope... it is only by the Lord one day - rather one moment at a time.

Mom is moving to her room at Shady Grove and they will be keeping her for a night or two. The docs are going to be putting her on blood thinners. They do not believe that the blood clots are cause for serious threats but rather that they will be able to dissolve the clots through medicine . She will be closely monitored for the next six months and will have to give herself shots for a week until the medicine is in her system and she can then orally take the medication.
Thank you for your prayers. As always they are so appreciated!

"Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him;
I will protect him, because he knows my name.
When he calls to me, I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation." Ps 91:14-16

Mom's at Shady Grove Hospital

Hi Friends~
Today Mom passed out at work and was taken to the ER. We know little except that they have found blood clots in her lungs. The docs are on their way to talk with her and dad and they will be staying over night at Shady Grove Hospital. You have lifted us up in prayer many, many times before and we ask you to do so again. Thanks everyone!

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord , "My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust." Ps 91:1-2

Krispy Kreme

Mikes showing us his Belly!

Last Week was a busy one! Pet Scan(still no results back yet) Valentines, Disney on Ice and a Krispy Kreme Run!

Valentines was Great! Last year had a Valentines Picnic on the hospital floor. This year it was a blessing to be home together. A gourmet meal of spaghetti and pizza, with little gifts and a relaxing evening. Our kiddos love foot baths so first Dadda and Braet gave Momma a foot bath and then we gave each of the kids one. As you can see they were all into it!

We so graciously received tickets from Children's to Disney on Ice and what treat since Micah had been asking for the Castle and Mickey ever since we got home!

And last but not least was our outing to Krispy Kreme. The boys always love to watch the doughnuts being made and CC was all too thrilled about her first taste of a Chocolate Cake doughnut!

Mikes MRI is this Friday at 2pm. Please pray for him. He can't have anything to eat or drink from the time he wakes up in the morning until after the MRI. And please pray for his mommy who has been struggling more lately. Micah is still doing really well and what joy Luke and I are receiving as we are playing, observing and caring for our children.

Also Luke grandfather just passed away last week and we will be attending a Memorial service, so if you would also keep the extended Davis Family in your thoughts & prayers as well we would so appreciate it.

Thanks and Love to All
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Rom 15:13

We're Back!

Updates First:
-Thanks for your prayers and notes of encouragement today. While IV sticks and tests never seem to get easier, we did have a great team and we should expect the results back in about 3 days.
-MRI has been postponed until it gets closer to the trial - so sometime next week.

Now on to all the fun stuff!
Well we know many of you were praying for us and that is evident because the kiddos did fabulous running on little sleep and lots of sugar! The trip was splendid, a great blessing!

Lets see, there is so much to tell...Where do I begin...
Highlights*

*Cianne learned to crawl and pull herself up on everything~ She's on the go now!
*Braet so enjoyed the rides and went on everything he was tall enough for. What a blast, he is growing up much too fast and becoming quite the thrill seeker!
*And Micah well Micah had a blast, he loved the Characters, ice cream, Merry Go Round, rides, Characters more Characters and just running around!

What a special time together, the kids enjoyed it so much more than we thought they would and we all had a blast watching them. Over and over Micah kept saying Wow, Wow, he was so responsive. The volunteers at Give Kids the World were fabulous (50 some paid personnel and over 1000 volunteers)so genuinely caring, fun and kind to the children. Nana & G and MawMaw & PawPaw were also able to come with us and that was icing on the cake~ such fun to share this special time with them! Not to mention they were a tremendous help with the kids! I've taken a ton of pics to share with you all.

We feel so blessed to be recipients of such generosity. It was truly a blessing to be away together. Huge thanks to Make a Wish, Give Kids the World and of course to you all, dear friends who have prayed and supported and care for us so well!

Oh, how abundant is your goodness. Ps 31:19

Prayer Request

Were Back! And we had a wonderful time together (I'll be posting pics from our trip later)but I wanted to write and ask for your prayers. Today Micah has a Pet scan and tomorrow an MRI (all in preparation for the Trial). These tests always tempt us to be anxious. Our hearts were sad the other night as we cried and prayed for Mikes. IVs and and tests are one of least favorite things. So your prayers for peace for Micah, good nurses, help for our hearts and a miracle ~ are always greatly appreciated!

Thanks for all your continued support!
Love to All

And more to come from Mickey & the "Hastle" (better known to you and I as the Castle- which Micah is still asking for =)
