Mom had a CT scan yesterday which revealed an indeterminable mass (that barely showed up on the scan it is about a 2x3cm) in her kidney, which she had an MRI for today. They don't know if is a sist or tumor. They won't operate because of the blood clots. The docs have not looked at the MRI yet but if it is a tumor mom will be given oral chemo to dissolve the matter.Rather than coming home today, they will be keeping her at least until Tuesday. We again know little and should know more tomorrow. Mom is still weak but has been resting better and is slowly regaining strength. On Sat she had a blood transfusion to bring up her hemoglobin count which was very low at 7 (you should be around 13 or 14) and today she gave herself her first shot of the blood thinner medicine. I'm impressed!
Last night the doctors were sharing with mom the seriousness of the blood clots in her lungs and that more people die from the clots in a year then HIV or heart disease. What a blessing that she is with us. We hadn't a clue just how serious it was. How thankful we are to the Lord for preserving her life.
I am reminded of a song we sang in church today- as we wait, as we are weak- yet the Lord is strong. Our strength, comfort and hope. Thanks for your prayers. How in debt we are to you for all your prayers and encouragements. They mean so much more than you know!
You are the everlasting God
You do not faint, You won't grow weary
You're the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings of eagles
Our Hope our Strong Deliver
Everlasting God, Lincoln Brewster
